Overview
Designed for the mid-to-low handicap golfer, Wilson D9 Forged Irons are forged from premium 8620 carbon steel to provide exceptional feel, and shaped with a thin topline and minimal offset for added confidence at address. The pivotal piece of technology behind the D9 Forged Iron’s exceptional performance and distance are Wilson’s Power Holes located in the sole. Using artificial intelligence and computer simulations, Wilson ran thousands of tests to determine the ideal Power Hole configuration, resulting in maximum ball speed and forgiveness across the face. Additionally, during player testing, Wilson determined that better players tend to miss closer to the sweet spot, and produce more heel-biased strikes than extreme toe shots in comparison high-handicap golfers.
In order to produce a higher launch, increased peak trajectory, and a steeper descent angle, Wilson lowered the center of gravity in the D9 Forged. This means more carry distance and greater stopping power around the green. In comparison to the previous D7 Forged, Wilson's robot testing confirmed that D9 Forged is far superior, producing faster ball speed, a higher launch angle, lower spin rate, higher ball flight, a steeper descent angle, longer distance, and more accuracy.
